Terms of use
These terms apply to the Prysly browser extension, the Prysly server it talks to (the "service") and this website, prysly.com (together, "Prysly"). Prysly is provided by Luciatech (Pty) Ltd (registration number 2019/548229/07) of Sandton, Johannesburg, South Africa ("we", "us"). By installing the extension or using the website you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use Prysly, and remove the extension.
1. What Prysly does
Prysly shows information about products on 35 South African store websites: a verdict on whether the price is a real deal, a normal price or comes with an inflated "was" price, the product's recent price history, and the same product at other supported stores where it costs less in total including delivery. Prysly is free. It is an information tool: we do not sell products, take orders or handle payments, and we are not a party to any purchase you make from a store.
2. Prices come from third-party stores
- Prices, "was" prices, stock status, product details and delivery fees come from third-party store websites, from what shoppers' browsers saw there, and from our own checks of those pages. Stores can change prices at any time, and pages can be read incorrectly.
- Delivery fees are the standard delivery fee from our store data (may differ at checkout); your actual fee can depend on your address, the size of your order and the store's current terms.
- Verdicts are the result of fixed rules applied to the prices we have recorded (explained in the card under "Why this verdict?"). They are an opinion about a price, not a statement of fact about a store, and they can be wrong if our records are incomplete.
- Products shown as "the same product" at another store are matched automatically by barcode, model number and title, sometimes with the help of AI. Matches can be wrong.
No warranty on prices. We do not guarantee that any price, verdict, delivery fee, match or stock status is accurate, complete or current. Always check the price, product and delivery cost on the store's own website before you buy. The store's own price and terms apply to your purchase.
3. Stores and links
Prysly is independent and is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by any of the stores it works on. Store names and trademarks belong to their owners and are used only to identify the stores. Links in the Prysly card take you to the store's website, which has its own terms and privacy policy; we are not responsible for third-party websites. Some links are affiliate links, explained in our affiliate disclosure.
4. Acceptable use
You may use Prysly for your own, personal, non-commercial shopping. You must not:
- call the Prysly server or API other than through the unmodified extension, including with scripts, bots, crawlers or scrapers, or extract, copy or resell Prysly's price data in bulk;
- send false, made-up or manipulated prices or product details, or try to influence verdicts, offers or confirmation checks (for example by using many connections to pose as several shoppers);
- get around rate limits or other security measures, probe, scan or test the service for weaknesses without our written permission, or overload or disrupt it;
- generate fake clicks on store links, or use Prysly to defraud stores or affiliate networks;
- copy, modify, reverse engineer or redistribute the extension except as the law allows despite this restriction;
- use Prysly in breach of any law or of a store's terms.
We may limit, block or stop access to the service for anyone who breaks these rules, without notice. Found a security issue? Please tell us at privacy@prysly.co.za before you share it publicly.
5. Intellectual property
The Prysly name, logo, extension, website, design and the price-history database are owned by us or our licensors and protected by law. We give you a personal, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to install and use the extension and the website under these terms. Nothing in these terms transfers any ownership to you.
6. Availability and changes to Prysly
Prysly is provided "as is" and "as available". We may change, suspend or stop all or part of Prysly (for example a store, when its pages can no longer be read) at any time. We try to keep Prysly running but do not promise that it will be uninterrupted or error-free.
7. Liability
Nothing in these terms limits any right you have, or any liability we have, that cannot lawfully be limited, including under the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008 where it applies, and nothing limits liability for our gross negligence or wilful misconduct. Subject to that:
- we give no warranties about Prysly beyond those the law requires, including about the accuracy of prices, verdicts or matches;
- we are not liable for any loss arising from a purchase you make, or decide not to make, from a store, from a store's prices, products, delivery or service, or from third-party websites;
- we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for loss of profit, savings, data or opportunity; and
- because Prysly is free, our total liability to you for any claim about Prysly is limited to R100.
You indemnify us against claims arising from your breach of section 4, to the extent the law allows.
8. Privacy
How we handle information is explained in our privacy policy and cookies and storage page.
9. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa. Subject to any right you have under consumer law to approach another forum, the courts of South Africa have jurisdiction over any dispute about Prysly. If any part of these terms is found invalid, the rest still applies.
10. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The new version will be posted on this page with a new effective date, and applies from that date. If you keep using Prysly after a change, you accept the new terms; if you don't, please remove the extension.
11. Contact
